Primary solo course

When I called AMA to research your school they gave you seven stars out of five! The school met and exceeded all my expectations and my first Solos back home were textbook. Joseph Balabon. Mays Landing, NJ After your primary solo course my R/C club awarded me "Most Improved Flyer of the Year 2010". My club solo sign off was 8+ successive landings on a 30' x 300' paved runway. Hit it every time. Your course worked. It was hard to keep my mouth shut about who trained me right. Len Petkun. Indian Hill, OH Dave has the student focus on making prescribed control inputs and the aircraft follows along - versus reacting to the airplane and always being one step behind it. Dave's friendly approach made the lessons easy to learn and the training flights allowed us to immediately put his techniques to use, get feedback, and continue on. I've now successfully flown 21 flights on my own. Bill Felton. Apex, NC (NC) Charles County Windrifters R/C Club Editors note: I also attended this school three years ago. It is all Bill says it is, and more. It makes for a nice vacation as well as expediting a tedious learning process. The week I spent in Shawano getting my solo certificate was the best investment in my RC revival (had not flown for over 40 years since I was a teenager). Dave is a great teacher! I can’t wait to plan my next trip to become proficient with aerobatics. Brian Shields. Overland Park, KS The way you have structured your course, from simple to complex, is educationally sound and it works. Your teaching and coaching ability is however, the thing that brings it all together. Your explanations before the flights and during the flights eliminated the usual disorientation and lack of control. Faye Stilley. Wilton, CT To put it short, your program works and it gave me the confidence to fly when I got back home. I would readily suggest your course to other people like myself whose schedules do not permit sustained weekend after weekend flying to build proficiency. The 5 days I spent with you represented several summers worth of regular training. Jeffrey Steinberg. Chessnut Hill, MA My goal in attending the Flight School was to be able to Take off - fly comfortably and land the airplane in one place. The objective was achieved during the five day course. I would highly recommend the Flight School to anyone who wanted to learn to fly in a very short period of time without crashing a number of planes. William Reynolds. Alpena, MI I can honestly say that I have never been more satisfied with any investment of my time, energy and money than I am with the training provided by your school. Bob Kohler. Cedarburg, WI Dave Scott is a SUPERB teacher, with "nerves of steel" and a quiet, relaxed manner that leads to early confidence in flying. Prior to each flight Dave would explain exactly what we were going to accomplish and why. After each flight Dave critiqued it (always most politely) at which time he explained what happened and why. The student's only concern is to learn, and have fun while learning. Tony Fassi. Palm Beach, FL Your approach of treating both flight preparation and the actual flying as though it were full scale is absolutely on target for maximal learning and fun with minimal headaches. I only wish I'd come to the School BEFORE making all the ridiculous mistakes! Ken, Nate, and Ben Moore. Las Vegas, NV Having been a full-scale instructor for over 25 years I can truthfully say your method of RC instruction is superb and effective. I believe your class should be mandatory for anyone wishing to excel. Romeo Bachand. Mundelein, IL Since the class I have found that I have more confidence in my flying abilities. I am more relaxed and enjoy the sport more than ever. I have to admit that my investment in Dave Scott's class was the best thing I have done to improve my ability to fly. Dean Ehn. Boulder, CO Thanks to your training I had a great summer going to the field each day with a specific goal. Having a practice plan made learning new stuff enjoyable and much easier to accomplish. What a difference knowing how to execute the maneuvers beforehand made on my practice. By fall I realized that you had given me something that I didn't expect - CONFIDENCE! I was no longer nervous about any aspect of flying. Thanks for a VERY enjoyable season of flying and learning. Dave Coutie. Oshawa, CAN I have never met a more capable instructor in any discipline. Dave knows his stuff backwards and forward. Dave is also a man of infinite patience. Infinite. Dave Healy. Medford, OR The course totally exceeded my expectations, and I had high expectations. I now have the confidence that I am totally in control of my plane. The DAS system just can't be that simple, and yet it is!!! Please feel free to have anyone who wants confirmation of your courses worth to email me. I will tell them that it is the best $ I have ever spent in the hobby. Steve Storman. Harrington Park, NJ I know the four short days with you have eliminated many years worth of frustrating trial and error learning. Most pilots think the next plane or fancy radio will make them fly better, but I knew "thinking outside the box" by investing in training with you would pay for itself many times over. Glen Spaulding I went flying today for the first time since taking your course and it went very well. I had 15 to 20 mph 90 degrees of cross winds to the runway. It was a bit tough but I handled it well. I wasn't near as nervous as I was before I took your course. I did 6 landings and my plane is in good shape. Took it home in one piece. Been awhile since I did that. HA HA. It seems so easy when I fly like you taught me. I'm having a ball now. Gerald Jefferies. Robertsdale, AL The club members were amazed that I would even attempt to fly in 15-20 mph winds. As they watched and waited for me to crash, I just kept remembering what you taught, and finished my flight with a pretty good landing. I couldn't be more pleased with what I got out of the school. Dan Sprung. Bergen, NY I just wanted to let you know that my flying is going very well and has caught the attention of the local field club members. They continually comment on how well I control the plane and can’t believe that I’ve only been flying since May with just a week of instruction. Several flyers even ask me for tips from time to time. I do, of course, refer them to your school and manual. Thanks again. Paul Darland. PA Today was my first flight at my home field. I flew well. Several landings, but the last one greased in front of another member. No more ailerons being held, so no spirals into the ground. And, no club turns….just aileron, home, up elevator for smooth flat turns. Very happy for first flight alone. Exciting to be back at a field! Thank you so much for the training….you were there talking me through everything today. Perfect. Thx Brock Siegel. Davis, CA
