AIRPLANE & RADIO SETUP MANUAL

Essential Airplane & Radio Setup Principles for Optimum Aerobatic Performance and Handling
While modern technology is expanding airplane capabilities, the fundamental setup principles that are essential to achieving a great flying airplane are taking a back seat. Todays emphaisis on advanced programming to solve fundamental deficiencies or improve performance has subsequently made the setup process exponentially more complex, and therefore, subject to error.
From the world’s #1 source for accelerated radio control instruction, Airplane & Radio Setup manual brings to the forefront the most important fundamental airplane & radio setup principles. The book then details the role that advanced computer capabilities play in fine-tuning the setup to produce the most capable and honest handling airplane possible. Section 1 Airplane Setup illustrates the airplane setup principles responsible for ensuring that a plane flies like it’s on rails and does only what the pilot tells it to do. Section 2 Control Setup details all the radio programming techniques that enable pilots to optimize their plane's aerobatic performance and handling. You will also be alerted to certain setup trends aimed at improving a certain condition or maneuver, that come at the cost of making everything else a pilot does more difficult. Section 3 Flight Tests walks pilots through the complete series of setup flight checks used to fine tune a plane’s handling to the skill level and flying style of each pilot, thereby ensuring his or her greatest opportunity for success. Special bonus section features several setup techniques taken from full-scale aviation designed to maximize overall precision handling, tame landings, and expand an airplane’s flight envelope. Whether you seek the confidence that accompanies feeling connected to your airplane, and/or the satisfaction that comes from improving at a faster pace, Airplane & Radio Setup will enable you to pursue your flying goals with ease and efficiency.
  • I tuned up my planes per your book and it made a big difference in my flying. Club members are not only complimenting a "good flying plane" but also a "good landing plane". My flying is now much more precise and the wind is much easier to manage now.
    Mark McCoy. MO
I set up all my planes according to your book and what a great difference it has made on my flying. My flying workload has been reduced considerable which is the purpose of doing all this. I thank you for sharing your setup wisdom!
    Calhoun Wick. DE
I reworked my Extra per your manual and it now flies like it is on rails with minimal trimming. Very few corrections are needed to fly inverted. The best part is landing, the plane locks in on final and flares beautifully. It is a joy to fly. This is the complete opposite of how it flew before.
    Michael Casciotti. PA
  • I fixed the incidence and CG and installed vortex generators as described in your book. These changes turned a "good flying plane" into a "great flying plane".
    Mark Roberts. MO
Upon incorporating the techniques in Airplane & Radio Setup my planes are definitely easier to control. Your manual has greatly helped grow my knowledge and confidence. This manual should be required reading for anyone getting involved into the world of RC planes.
    Bill Herbert. CO
Really appreciate the setup manual and the way it’s written. I’m seeing immediate improvements and experiencing a heightened level of enjoyment. Your book helped me identify faults that I had been failing to identify that caused some of my flying difficulties.
    Dave Edwards. Quincy, MA
  • After making the adjustments your Setup manual suggested, I just couldn’t get over how much smoother my planes flew! It wasn't long before everyone in my club was asking questions about all that I had learned from the book.
    Bill Pura. Manitoba, CAN
The setup principals outlined in Dave's book create a rock solid foundation to take advantage of radio programming to achieve the best overall handling. The book will enable you to focus on learning to fly the maneuvers without the plane getting in the way of progress.
    Noel Proctor. Tucson, AZ
I have learned so much from your Airplane and Radio Setup manual airplane setup, control surface setup, expo, etc. I am sure I would not have crashed so many airplanes had I known the information in the book earlier.
    Fred Robertson. Hoover, AL
  • As a retired aerospace engineer, I was interested in seeing the effect your setup advice would have on a planes behavior. The control response is definitely better now. My trainee, who has not yet soloed, was also able to tell the difference. Thank you for sharing your technical expertise.
    Stu Mitnik. Scottsdale, AZ
Your airplane/radio setup manual has helped me tremendously. Thanks to your book I get lots of comments at the field about how well my planes fly in the wind.
    Craig Quillen
If most in our hobby would only use the common sense approach you teach when setting up aerobatic planes for precision flights their enjoyment of the sport would be increased many times over!
    Stephen Bradford. MO
